Every claims that he does not have much time and hence work must be done quickly... Unlike the days when the world was an enormous concept and needed a minimum of 80 days to cover the distance! Todays world is however as compact as a nut shell. Yet, this entire system of "speed-communication" is fraught with ironies. And despite the fact that we can now communicate with the extremities of the earth in a wink, yet it takes us years to traverse just a couple of miles to visit a friend or family. This fact really dint occur to me before i received a call from a friend a few days ago. No! the phone call wasn't a highly dramatic event, infant phone calls are hardly dramatic events nowadays...! Yet it was significant because i got the call from her after about a year or so... Now what's so significant about this you may ask..?
What is significant is the fact that we live only 3-4 miles apart, the fact that I have to go by her house almost once every week, and yet, I have neither paid any visit nor have I placed her any phone call in months together...! And though she has been living in the city for 3 years now, I have not almost met her for two and a half years!
During the process of our conversation I even "jokingly" remarked how we had met each other last in the previous millenium. As I reflected over the conversation immediately after I realised the truth of the philosophical remark somebody had made years ago that a village can sometimes be bigger than a city - only in this case it is the city proving to be bigger than the world!
But of course in this entire set up there is no one we can much blame because the moment we point accusing fingers, the other three fingers just plainly , flatly and simply fall back at us.......... Of course no one in this wide world is so busy continuously for months that he/she has no time to place a five minutes call!!! That's ridiculous! It's just that we claim to have no time. And this claim comes despite the fact that throughout the day we may be spending time gossiping about some film land trivia...! Whatever the cause. whatever the reason, whatever the excuse, we have psychologically convinced ourselves that we don't have any time, and whenever questioned about our failure to meet up with some commitment or the other we utter the phenomenal excuse. Not just that , even the person demanding such such explanation is well aware or the answer even before he sets the question.
Thus, ultimately I arrived at the conclusion that though the world may seem within reach, a meager city can sometimes run out of hand : it can turn boundless. Of course, you are at liberty is contradict (if you may....) but believe me, I really don't have time for another explanation......!!!!
